Dossenback Shows Winds of Change Blowing In County

Normally a board of county commissioners picking an individual with qualifications like Tom Dossenback as a member of the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport Authority would not catch attention here. But this is a choice that shows that the good ol' boy network does not hold sway over the commissioners.  There was a full court press put on by  the good ol' boys to get one of their own, Bobby Powell, reelected to the board.  But this board has promised to open up government, including serving on boards and commissions.  Four members stood strong behind its words and elected the more qualified man.

Prior to forming his consulting firm in 1997, Tom Dossenbach spent over 30 years in the furniture and millwork industries after graduating from the school of engineering at N.C. State University, Raleigh, North Carolina in the Furniture Manufacturing and Management Program.  Most of his time in industry was spent as a Plant Manager, Vice President, or General Manager with profit and loss responsibilities.  Among his accomplishments was the improved performance of his division of a Fortune 500 Company to lead in return on assets and inventory turns through the implementation of JIT principles and an aggressive Continuous Improvement Program and Lean Manufacturing.  Tom has served as interim CEO in a successful turnaround assignment of a company in bankruptcy.

So tomorrow when the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport Authority meets at 8:00 am, Bobby won't have to leave his seat at the Dairy Bar (a good place to eat) and can bemoan with his buddies that the winds of change are blowing in Sanford and no longer their way every time.
